SEED

There are many types of seed mixtures.  We suggest you contact your Landscape Architect, Horticulturist or Erosion Control Consultant for the best seed combination for your soil condition.

TURF MAINTENANCE

35-45 days after the first mowing broadcast 20-30 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. of Gro-Power®/ Gro-Power®Plus or 7 ¼ lbs. of

Gro-Power®Hi-Nitrogen and continue to use Gro-Power®/ Gro-Power®Plus or Gro-Power®Hi-Nitrogen at 3 to 4 month intervals or as needed.

SLOPE MAINTENANCE

30-50 days after hydroseeding, apply 25-30 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. of Gro-Power®/ Gro-Power®Plus or Gro-Power®Controlled Release 12-8-8 at 16 to 30 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. for long-term nutrient release. Gro-Power® Toss’n’Gro 8-8-8 is ideal for hand application at 17 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. every 3-4 months.

*Gro-Power®Controlled Release 12-8-8 is available in 3-4 month, 4-6 month and 6-8 month formulations.

SOIL SAMPLING & ANALYSIS

Soil Sampling & Analysis: Complete agronomic analysis including 18 elements, computer graphics of those elements, interpretation of analysis, and recommendations including soil preparation, backfill, hydroseeding, and maintenance specifications.

A THOROUGH SOIL ANALYSIS IS RECOMMENDED FOR BEST RESULTS ON ALL LANDSCAPE SITES….

COMMERCIAL SOIL ANALYSIS with interpretation and recommendations (include texture, organic matter, estimated nitrogen release, Phosphorus (P 1, P 2 ), potassium, magnesium, calcium, soil pH, hydrogen, cation exchange capacity, percent base saturation, soluble salts, excess lime rate, sodium and boron) WITH GRAPHICS.*

The commercial soil analysis kit includes two (2) sample bags. You may use the sample bags as needed, and complete directions and postage are included. There is no cost for the kit but the fee per basic analysis starts at $70.

Please mark each bag with your name, address, phone number and what analysis / recommendation you would like done. This is important since time is usually of the essence, and we can be sure the results are sent to the correct person in a timely manner. It would also be helpful to include any special information about the site that may affect the recommendations.

Please do not send any money with your soil sample. We will bill you when the recommendations are made.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All tests are done by independent soil testing laboratories and consulting agronomist and/or Ph.D.

RECOMMENDATIONS CAN BE MADE FROM ANY OTHER QUALIFIED SOIL LAB AT NO CHARGE. JUST MAIL OR FAX ENTIRE SOIL ANALYSIS REPORT WITH A NOTATION REQUESTING RECOMMENDATIONS.

FAQs

Why is Gro-Power beneficial in Revegetation Projects?

When the objective is to grow plants on a disturbed site, GRO-POWER often means the difference between success and failure. Even if germination is attained, poor soils seldom support growth and eventual permanent establishment of vegetation. For over 50 years, GRO-POWER products have included a proprietary blend of beneficial soil bacteria that are designed to enhance the microbiological environment, increasing the overall fertility of the soil, encouraging germination and sustaining long term establishment of plants. GRO-POWER is a natural product that contains Humus, Humic Acids and Beneficial Soil Bacteria. These elements, combined with the plant nutrients in GRO-POWER combine to help turn the poor, many times toxic, soils at these sites into ecologically healthy and viable soil environments to establish and maintain any type of vegetation, from grasses to drought tolerant native plants.

Is Gro-Power safe?

GRO-POWER contains no bio-solids, human or animal waste nor any heavy metals or toxic elements of any kind. We have been used for over 50 years by public agencies, in high traffic areas and in environmentally sensitive areas. There are no nitrates or other contaminates that can affect these areas. We regularly ship product around the world and pass all stringent tests imposted by other countries for organics entering their ports. GRO-POWER does not leach quickly through the soil profile like chemical fertilizers can. Runoff from sites does not contain the high rates of phosphorus or nitrogen and hence presents no risk to fish or aquatic life. Safe for use in protected habitats, near wetlands, and upstream of fish habitats.

There are no ‘special handling’ considerations when using GRO-POWER Products, however we recommend the use of gloves, protective eyewear and dust masks at all times, when handling any ‘granulated’ products.

How is GRO-POWER applied?

GRO-POWER Products can be:

  • incorporated into the soil before planting
  • mixed in the hydroseeding slurry
  • spread by broadcast or by hand
  • used with an imprinter or strawblower. Various formulations of GRO-POWER can be applied for incorporation in the soil profile prior to seeding. Soil tests usually reveal the best formulation to meet the goals you have for your site. In areas where incorporation into the soil is not possible, practical or desired due to steep slopes or inaccessibility, GRO-POWER can be applied with most spreaders and broadcast devices.GRO-POWER can be mixed in slurry for all forms of hydraulic application; hydroseeding, hydro-mulching, hydro-spriggin, and hydro-fertilization. It mixes quickly and disperses evenly in virtually all sizes and brands of hydraulic planters, even ‘jet agitated’ machines. GRO-POWER is perfect for custom home lawn plantings, wildflowers and native plants.Contact our office for complete soil preparation and hydroseeding specifications and guidelines.
